Lívia Vereščáková
Statement
Lívia Vereščáková (2001, Sečovce, Slovakia) is a visual artist based in Warsaw. Her work includes painting, drawing and installation, exploring themes of identity, memory, personal transformation and emotional space. Her works often draw on an autobiographical basis and straddle the line between intimate gesture and collective experience.
Vereshchakova works with nostalgia as a tool for introspection. In the layers of image or object, she returns to the elusiveness of memories, losses and changes that shape human beings. She uses the contrast between delicacy and weight - the lightness of colour and thematic depth - to create a space for slowing down and contemplation.
She studied art restoration and later went on to study painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. In addition to her work as an artist, she is a curator and cultural organizer - co-founder of TVOR, an independent festival of young art that annually connects contemporary art with the community in the more remote regions of eastern Slovakia.
Her work is a visual probe into the silent moments of existence - that which remains unspoken but felt. She sees art as a process of both self-formation and social touch, as a bridge between the inner world and the outer space.
