Thomas Perticaroli
Statement
I'm Thomas Perticaroli, a self-taught artist from a small village in the center of Italy and I focus mainly on oil paintings on canvas. I don't have a particular subject or symbol, but each painting originates from deep introspection.
My creative process begins when I observe myself - my behaviour, emotional responses, and recurring thoughts - to try and understand the outside world better. I like to think that the images come directly from my subconscious, representing innermost thoughts and experiences to which others can relate deeply.
A major inspiration of mine is the Surrealist movement, in which dreams and reality merge to create new perceptions of the world. I feel like it really is the most effective way for me to express the intricate links of the mind. I try to create a kind of liminal space in my art — a place between what is experienced and what is perceived, between body and mind.
