Midori Luck
Statement
Born in Japan, Midori moved to UK when she was 39 and started to paint. Although self-taught her works were exhibited in various exhibitions in England including at the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour at the Mall Gallery in London on three occasions, also sold paintings in a gallery in London.
In 2004, she moved to Spain with her ailing British husband and devoted her time as his caretaker for about ten years. After her husband passed she slowly resumed painting in various media and had solo exhibitions in Tokyo every year until the pandemic prevented her from traveling to Japan. She regained her inspiration when she traveled to the Sahara desert in Morocco in 2023, where she was inspired by the life of the nomad origin people who work in the desert. She visits often the small town of M’hamid El Ghizlane, the gateway to the Sahara.
Her works are mainly portrait drawing/painting in charcoal, pastels, and oils. She participate exhibitions through the Monat Gallery in Madrid, and other online galleries.
She lives in Vejer de la Frontera Spain, she also paints the old streets scenes of this town.
